Thomas W. Phillips (judge)

Thomas W. Phillips (born 1943) is a United States federal judge.

Born in Oneida, Tennessee, Phillips received a B.A. from Berea College in 1965, a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1969, and an LL.M. from George Washington University Law School in 1973. He was in the United States Army, JAG Corps from 1969 to 1973. He was in private practice in Oneida and Knoxville, Tennessee from 1973 to 1991. He was a County attorney (part-time), Scott County, Tennessee from 1976 to 1991.

Phillips was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Phillips was nominated by President George W. Bush on June 26, 2002, to a seat vacated by James H. Jarvis II. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 14, 2002, and received his commission on November 15, 2002.
